Do You Resist Silence?

Many of us fight silence by constantly keeping busy; doing this for an extended period of time will accumulate worries and excessive mind-chatter. The layers build upon each other and it feels impossible to break free.
Taking a moment to pause allows all of the nonsense to settle so that the lotus of clarity can emerge from the mud below. Our best decisions are made in moments of nothingness.
A practice for meditation would be to fill a jar with water from a puddle in a garden or from a creek. Cap the jar then shake it up for a few minutes. Notice the chaos of sediment swirling around; this is akin to the busy mind.
Now let the jar sit undisturbed. Watch as clear water begins to rise as the dust settles. Merely observing this happen, or observing our thoughts is meditation. Wisdom is the result of understanding the entire process. Applying it daily is a lesson in mindfulness.
